Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an Exceptional Children Coordinating Teacher in Charlotte, NC to coordinate EC programming, support IEP processes, and ensure compliance with regulations.

The role requires at least three years of teaching experience, a NC Special Education license, and a Bachelor's degree; a Master's degree is preferred. You will coordinate staff, develop improvement plans, and provide PD to strengthen EC services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least three years teaching experience required.
  • Master’s degree preferred in Special Education.
  • Valid NC Teaching license in Special Education required.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate and attend IEP meetings; support IEP development.
  • Schedule EC staff and resources.
  • Collaborate with compliance facilitators at school level.
  • Develop, monitor, and implement improvement plans at schools.
  • Facilitate progress monitoring in writing instructional plans.
  • Model evidence-based instructional strategies for SDI.
  • Provide co-teaching support to EC and general ed teachers.
  • Develop and provide PD related to instruction and accountability.
  • Support beginning teachers and those new to the district.
  • Review requests for district support and outside representation.
  • Review behavior packets to determine placement or service needs.
  • Review compliance reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Update datapoints in dashboards and systems.
