Job Overview

This role involves supporting teachers in instructing students and performing technical and clerical tasks, as well as bus driving duties to ensure safe transportation of students.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma required, along with one of the following: 48 Semester Hours, an Associate's Degree, or Workkeys completed plus two college courses or 96 contact hours. Experience in driving large vehicles and transporting humans is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with instruction and evaluation.
• Monitor student behavior, maintain discipline, and assist with crisis prevention and intervention.
• Ensure student safety and well-being, encourage independence, and support learning.
• Operate school bus according to schedule, obey traffic laws, perform safety inspections, and maintain the bus.
• Establish discipline plans, secure the bus, and maintain positive relationships with parents and staff.
• Perform related tasks as needed.

Physical and Skill Requirements

Must be able to operate equipment, exert force, and meet physical demands typical of light to medium work. Must have good motor coordination, manual dexterity, and the ability to differentiate colors for traffic signals. Effective communication, problem-solving, and following instructions are essential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of classroom activities, student rules, emergency procedures, and transportation safety regulations.
• Ability to motivate students, perform clerical duties, and maintain discipline.

Terms of Employment

Full-time, ten-month position, salary at Grade 56, with movement up 8 steps for certified TAs.
