Job description

Overview

As a Heavy Equipment Operator with Superior Skilled Trades, you will play a key role in site preparation and earthwork for construction projects. Your primary duties include operating excavators and skid steers, with some general labor and groundwork as needed to support crew operations. You will perform safe operations on job sites and work with the team to meet project specifications and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate excavators, skid steers, heavy machinery and other earth-moving equipment.
• Perform precise grading and excavation according to site plans and project specifications.
• Load and move materials such as dirt, rock, and debris using heavy equipment.
• Use GPS and grade control systems to maintain accurate excavation depths and site elevations (if experienced).
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance (e.g., fluid checks, greasing).
• Work in coordination with site supervisors, foremen, and other crew members to meet project timelines.
• Assist with groundwork, including site cleanup, trenching, and other manual tasks as needed.
• Ensure a clean and safe work environment by following all OSHA safety standards and site regulations.

Qualifications (Experience, Education & Certifications, Key Attributes)

• 2 years or more operating equipment
• Experience operating Excavators and skid steers
• Experience operating equipment with GPS is a plus
• Knowledge of basic OSHA regulations
