Job summary

Advastar, Inc in the Kansas City metro is hiring a full-time Excavator Operator for underground electrical work. You will run a mini excavator on a two-person trench crew, dig to plan and utility markings, and work with a helper to lay conduit before backfill. This role offers steady hours, overtime, PTO, holidays, and a clean driving record is required. CDL not needed but must be able to tow and secure equipment responsibly.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on mini excavator experience in trenching or underground utility work.
  • Ability to tow with truck/trailer and secure equipment.
  • Clean driving record; valid driver's license.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

  • Dig trenches to route, depth, width, and grade per utility markings.
  • Lay and connect PVC conduit with a helper; protect installation until approved.
  • Backfill, compact, and restore work area after inspection.
  • Transport excavator between jobsites using a company truck and trailer.
  • Inspect and fuel equipment daily; report defects.
  • Maintain daily time records.
  • Assist with general labor when the machine is idle.
