Qualifications

• 3–5 years operating excavators and working around underground utilities.
• Ability to read utility plans, identify water and sewer lines, and work safely around live services.
• Valid driver’s license; OSHA 10/30 preferred; trench safety certification a plus.
• Experience directing crews, coordinating tasks, and maintaining workflow.
• Ability to read blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans.
• Ability to lift 50+lbs, work outdoors, and handle physically demanding tasks.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Excavator Operation— Operate excavators to dig trenches, foundations, and utility lines with precision.
• Water & Drain Line Identification— Locate, identify, and verify water mains, sewer lines, and drainage systems before and during excavation.
• Leadership Duties— Act as on-site foreman; coordinate laborers, communicate with supervisors, and ensure tasks are completed to plan.
• Shoring Setup— Install, inspect, and maintain trench shoring systems to protect workers and maintain OSHA compliance.
• Site Preparation— Clear, grade, and prepare job sites; remove debris and support layout activities.
• Material Handling— Load trucks, move materials, and support multi-equipment operations.
• Equipment Inspection— Perform daily inspections and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Safety Compliance— Enforce safety protocols, PPE requirements, and trench safety regulations.
• Team Coordination— Direct ground crews, signal operators, and maintain clear communication across the job site.
