Job summary

North Rock Concrete and Excavating is seeking an experienced Excavator/Operator to join our construction team in Layton, UT. You will operate excavators and other heavy equipment on commercial projects with a focus on safe, efficient workmanship.

Responsibilities include digging, trenching, grading, backfilling, and site preparation, while reading plans and following project specifications. Daily inspections and coordination with foremen and crew are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional heavy equipment operating experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to operate excavators and a variety of construction equipment safely and efficiently.
• Experience with grading, trenching, utility work, site development, or earthwork preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction safety procedures.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate excavators and other heavy equipment.
• Perform digging, trenching, grading, backfilling, and site preparation.
• Operate equipment around utilities, structures, workers, and other job-site hazards.
• Read and follow site plans, grades, and project specifications.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Maintain equipment and identify potential mechanical problems.
• Assist with general site work and labor tasks when needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Work effectively with foremen, laborers, and other equipment operators.
