Job summary

Plumstead Quarry, in partnership with H&K Group, Inc., seeks an Excavator Operator who is energetic, safety-minded, and reliable on a busy site in Bucks County, PA. Experience with a 330 excavator with hammer is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: 1-year certificate or 6 months related experience
• May be required to pass a practical skills test for excavators and loaders

• Ability to meet physical requirements and wear PPE as needed
• Experience in heavy civil construction or quarries is a plus

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including excavator with hammer
• Perform daily inspections and pre/post trip checks

• Ensure product is blended correctly
• Provide on-site customer service
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning

Overview

Plumstead Quarry, in partnership with H&K Group, Inc., is looking for an Excavator Operator! Experience with a 330 excavator with a hammer is not required but definitely a plus! The ideal candidate is energetic, motivated, experienced, and carries out work safely.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies
• Perform pre and post trip of equipment every day and fill out daily inspection sheets
• Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel/moves joysticks/levers to operate heavy equipment including excavator with hammer
• Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front end loader forward to force bucket into finished product
• Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled and dumps material into truck or rail
• Provide excellent customer service to all customers on site
• Maintains haul roads that are smooth and safe
• Keep stockpiles properly bermed and maintained
• Ensure product is blended correctly
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment such as lubricating and cleaning
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Able to pass practical skills test for excavators and loaders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Problem solving
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• Two years of related experience and/or training
• Experience and practical skills for other heavy equipment
  • Strong preference for experience and practical skills with a 330 excavator with hammer and loader
• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
• OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
