Job description

Position Summary

Branch's Civil Division is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Excavator Operator to join our established and growing company. The Excavator Operator will operate power shovels, pulling diggers toward the machine to excavate. All machines will be over cubic yard.

We are hiring for two projects in Roanoke, I-81 and 220 North, with positions starting in March/April.

Responsibilities
  • Grade to line and grade
  • Service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment
  • Operate on track or rubber-tired equipment, including gradall or wrist-o-twist types
  • Complete minor repairs as needed
  • Perform routine cleaning of equipment
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of construction techniques
  • 1 to 3 years of excavator operating experience
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • DOT experience preferred but not required

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently use hands and fingers, reach, stand, talk, hear, and occasionally walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell. The employee must lift or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Position Details

This is a full-time position, typically involving 40+ hours per week. Availability for on-call early/late hours is required to manage delays, weather, and emergencies.
