Delaware Valley Excavation
The Excavation Foreman is responsible for leading field crews in the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of excavation and site development projects. This role oversees daily operations, coordinates with project management, and ensures work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and company standards.
- Supervise and lead excavation crews on commercial and heavy civil construction projects.
- Plan and coordinate daily work activities to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Read and interpret blueprints, grading plans, utility drawings, and project specifications.
- Direct excavation operations, including site clearing, grading, trenching, utility installation, stormwater systems, and earthwork.
- Coordinate equipment, materials, subcontractors, and labor to maximize productivity.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Perform grade verification using lasers, levels, GPS, and other layout equipment as required.
- Monitor job quality to ensure work meets project specifications and company standards.
- Communicate daily with Superintendents, Project Managers, inspectors, utility companies, and customers regarding project progress and any field issues.
- Inspect equipment daily and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Complete daily reports, timecards, production tracking, and required project documentation.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members while promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Identify and resolve field issues proactively to minimize delays and maintain productivity.
- Ensure proper protection of underground utilities and compliance with excavation safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating deliveries, inspections, and project milestones.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support project and company objectives
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in excavation, grading, and site development operations
- Previous foreman or crew leadership experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read construction plans, elevations, and grade stakes
- Experience working with GPS machine control systems preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment and adapt to changing field conditions
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and excavation safety practices
- Valid driver’s license required

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work extended hours and occasional weekends as project demands require
