Job summary

Earthwork Services, Inc. is seeking an Excavating Equipment Operator to operate heavy machinery and contribute to difficult site tasks. You will perform pre-operation inspections, maintain daily records, and assist with a range of duties during peak seasons.

Candidates should have equipment operation experience, a valid driver's license (Class A preferred), and willingness to learn plan reading and surveying concepts while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment on construction sites.
• Experience rigging and moving heavy objects on-site.
• Valid driver's license is required; Class A preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of soils, compaction, plan reading and surveying is a plus.
• Must understand and follow safety standards and communicate clearly.

Excavating Equipment Operator

Position Details

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment to accomplish difficult or highly complex tasks
• Prior to operating equipment, conducts routine inspections to identify needed maintenance or repairs
• Maintains records of time worked and materials used
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Competitive wages based on experience
• 40+ hours per week during spring, summer, and fall

Required Skills/Abilities

• The operator must have experience running equipment
• Experience in rigging and moving heavy objects on the job site
• Valid driver's license
• Class A license is preferred, however not required
• Knowledge of soils and compaction
• Ability to read construction staking or the willingness to learn
• A basic understanding of plan reading or the willingness to learn
• Basic construction surveying knowledge or the willingness to learn
• Willingness to understand and accept safety standards
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form
• Must maintain flexibility in the schedule during the busy season
• Willingness to work hard and be reliable
