Daisy Elementary is a PreK-5 school located in Soddy Daisy, TN. We are a small school that serves a tight-knit community. We strive to develop relationships with all students and work to meet their academic and social-emotional needs. Our house system fosters a strong, positive school-wide team mentality, encouraging all Daisy Spartans to demonstrate good character through our “Daisy Ten Essentials”.
Our focus is on whole child growth, and we seek teachers dedicated to investing in all students, helping them reach their potential. Responsibilities include building relationships, engaging students in standards-based instruction, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure equitable access to quality education. This role involves supervising and instructing PreK students with various disabilities, including social, behavioral, communication, physical, self-help, and cognitive challenges. Knowledge of curriculum and interventions for young children with developmental disabilities, including communication disorders, applied behavioral analysis, discrete trials, PECS, and organizational systems for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, is required.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing IEPs, collaborating with regular education staff, conducting assessments, facilitating IEP meetings, and ensuring compliance with IDEA and state regulations. Candidates must be able to teach developmental reading using research-based materials such as SPIRE or Orton-Gillingham and be willing to receive training if needed.
Additional duties involve fostering a safe and productive classroom culture, building strong relationships with families, participating in professional development, and contributing to the school community. Candidates must hold a valid Tennessee teaching certification in Special Education (Endorsements: 459, 460, 461) and a bachelor's degree. Experience with assessment interpretation, data collection, and technology platforms like Easy IEP is essential. Willingness to assist students with self-help needs and collaborate with team members is also required.
