Job summary

United Ground Express, Inc. is seeking candidates to operate a lavatory truck and service aircraft lavatories at Newark Liberty International Airport. The role requires safe handling of lavatory and sanitary water systems and completing daily equipment checks.

Applicants must be at least 18, possess a valid driver’s license and be fluent in English. Flexibility for day/night shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime may be required, with standard PPE provided and an emphasis on safety and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be 18+ years old.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking English.
• Able to operate a computer/tablet for data entry.
• Physically able to bend, stoop, climb and work in tight spaces.
• Able to read/interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions and hazard labels.
• Eligible for credentials/clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs) per local requirements.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Able to work day and night shifts, weekends and holidays; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a lavatory truck to service aircraft lavatories.
• Use lavatory and sanitary water equipment to safely empty, flush, and fill aircraft systems per airline and regulatory requirements.
• Complete Daily Equipment Checks and associated checklists, including security searches.
• Wear personal protective equipment, including a face shield and hearing protection.
• Direct lift truck movement and positioning in the airport.
• Comprehend and execute defined safe universal precaution control procedures concerning handling blood borne pathogens and other hazardous waste.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and minimum requirements

• High school diploma, GED or preferred
• Minimum of 18 years old
• Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Ability to operate a computer/tablet to enter and retrieve data
• Must be willing and able to perform a variety of physical activities including, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in tight spaces
• Must be able to be alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment
• Must be able to read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage and cargo routing tags
• Eligibility to obtain necessary credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal) per local requirements
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Must be able to work during day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays; mandatory overtime may be required based on operational need
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
