Job summary

Archer, an aerospace company in San Jose, California, is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to support the development and certification of a piloted eVTOL aircraft. The role involves maintaining flight-test instrumentation, data acquisition, and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure readiness and successful flight tests.

You will design and maintain instrumentation systems, develop procedures, and advise on instrumentation health.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required.
• 3+ years instrumentation engineering & experimental test experience.
• Experience with data acquisition hardware and telemetry operations.
• Experience with instrumentation systems design on experimental test articles.
• Experience with FTI systems and sensor maintenance.
• Ability to distinguish colors.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs unassisted.
• Bonus: Python, C++, VBA+Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support developmental test and certification efforts for Archer’s piloted eVTOL project.
• Maintain data acquisition system, instrumentation configuration and readiness for flight tests.
• Collaborate with internal customers and vendors to solve instrumentation challenges.
• Perform post-flight data processing and field data quality questions.
• Advise Instrumentation Director on instrumentation health and flight activities.
• Develop procedures and documentation for checkout, calibration, and maintenance of flight test instrumentation.
• Collaborate with Flight Test Engineering and Certification Teams for required flight test activities.
• Coordinate instrumentation plan including monitoring of sensors and data streams.
• Assist in designing instrumentation wiring, termination details, and integration with aircraft systems.
• Assist in designing hardware for flight test (racks, air data booms, interfaces, etc.).
• Perform instrumentation work with instrumentation technician and Aircraft Operations Team.
• Ensure flight test instrumentation activities are completed on time and within budget.
