Job summary

Intermountain Health Riverton Hospital is seeking a part-time, on-site housekeeping professional to perform general cleaning, disinfecting and waste disposal across hospital facilities. The role requires following Joint Commission and OSHA cleaning procedures and infection prevention practices, with shifting day and overnight coverage as needed.

Responsibilities include maintaining sanitary, safe spaces, proper chemical handling, and effective communication with staff.

Qualifications

• One or more year of experience working as a Custodian, Janitor or Housekeeper.
• Ability to differentiate color-coded labels and/or chemicals and follow written and/or verbal directions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet department needs.
• Professional housekeeping experience preferred.

• Clean and disinfect assigned areas using department cleaning procedures.
• Use cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards.
• Properly dispose of infectious waste and trash.
• Handle and clean up emergency spills per department guidelines and standards.

Job Description: This position is responsible for performing general housekeeping tasks to maintain the facility and associated buildings in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition and to meet hospital and Joint Commission standards.

Schedule & Pay

• Position Details: PRN, on call or as needed
• Availability Needed: Sunday-Saturday to cover Swing Shifts & Overnight Shifts
• Shifts Assigned: 2pm-10:30pm & 10pm-6:30am
• Pay Rate: Based on Experience ($17.68 - $22.99)
• Actual hourly rate: $17.68 - $22.99
• Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0

• Understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash.
• Handles and cleans up emergency spills per department guideline, Joint commission, and OSHA standards.
• Follows all infection prevention practices (i.e. proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)).
• Maintains work and storage areas following established policy and procedures to ensure safety.

Qualifications

• One or more year of experience working as a Custodian, Janitor or Housekeeper (preferred)
• Demonstrated communication skills to include differentiating color-coded labels and/or chemicals as well as following written and/or verbal directions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed to meet the needs of the department.
• Demonstrated professional housekeeping experience. (Preferred)

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs
• Frequent interactions with customers require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set‑up and use
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set‑up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
