Job summary

Nemaha Valley Community Hospital - Official is seeking a dedicated Hospital Housekeeper/Laundry staff member to perform general cleaning across hospital and clinic areas, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in line with regulatory standards.

After brief training, you will follow established schedules, use chemicals and tools correctly, clean surfaces, floors, bathrooms, and patient rooms, and assist with laundry duties as needed. On-call availability may be required by the hospital.

Qualifications

• Experience: Relevant previous experience preferred but on-the-job training provided.
• Education: High School or equivalent.
• Registration: None required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate correct use of chemicals, supplies and tools after training.
• Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas following schedules and using prescribed methods.
• Clean and sanitize all surfaces in assigned areas.
• Dust and mop hard floors; vacuum carpeted areas.
• Dust and clean tops of windows, frames, lights, vents and high areas using ladder if needed.
• Clean bathroom and utility room fixtures; wash windows and mirrors as needed.
• Collect and dispose of trash and waste properly.
• Clean fans and equipment as required.
• Perform terminal cleaning in patient rooms and prepare rooms for new occupants with isolation procedures when needed.
• Restock supplies by refilling paper towels and soap; replace full sharps containers.
• Move heavy furniture and equipment as necessary to perform cleaning duties.
• Perform duties in the laundry department when assigned.
• Maintain housekeeping tools and report repairs or damage to maintenance staff.
• Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings as required.
• Be available on-call when needed by immediate circumstances.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to insure that all assigned areas of the hospital and/or the physician’s clinic are kept clean and sanitized in accordance with regulatory standards.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

JOB DUTIES:

1. Must, after brief training, be able to demonstrate the correct use of chemicals, supplies and tools assigned.
2. Must perform cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
3. Cleans and sanitizes all surfaces in assigned areas.
4. Dust mops and wet mops all hard surface floors.
5. Vacuums all carpet areas.
6. Dusts and cleans tops of window, door frames, lights, vents and other high areas, with the use of a ladder if necessary.
7. Cleans all bathroom and utility room fixtures.
8. Cleans windows and mirrors as needed.
9. Gathers and disposes of trash and waste, placing in proper bags and containers.
10. Cleans fans and other equipment when necessary.
11. Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares room for new occupant; follows isolation procedures in isolation room.
12. Replenishes rooms with supplies by refilling paper towels and soap dispensers. Replaces sharp containers in wall units when full.
13. Moves heavy furniture and equipment as required in order to perform cleaning duties.
14. Perform duties in the laundry department when assigned.
15. Responsible for keeping housekeeping equipment and tools clean and maintained and reports any need of it’s repair or any damage to furniture, building and fixtures to the maintenance staff.
16. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings and attends any other meetings as required.
17. Must be willing to work as on-call when deemed necessary by immediate
