Job Summary And Qualifications

Position responsibilities:

• General cleaning of patient rooms, occupied, vacant, isolation, discharge, bathrooms, ancillary areas, elevators, corridors and stairways
• Damp dust housing items, all furnishings, dust mop, wet mop floors, vacuum
• Cleans and performs daily preventive maintenance on the Medical Waste Unit according to procedures
• Extracts carpets in all areas of the hospital as assigned
• Empty, clean, reline waste containers and transport trash to pick up site
• Record discharge cleaning, dispenses paper products and soap, dust, spot cleans and washes walls, doors and glass
• Changes sharps container when 3/4 full and disposes of container per hospital policy
• Cleans equipment after use and returns to stockroom
• Returns soiled linen and cleaning cloths to soiled linen area
• Cleans trash cans as needed, using hospital approved germicide
• Controls and properly uses supplies and equipment
• Attends unit meetings, in services and other educational programs to maintain competency requirements
• Performs other duties as assigned
