Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an experienced environmental services professional to maintain high housekeeping standards, schedule staff, and support safety and quality. The role includes acting as shift lead in the absence of supervision and training teammates to ensure smooth operations.

As part of the Environmental Services team, you will manage cleaning, waste disposal, and room readiness, interacting professionally with patients, families, and staff while prioritizing safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience in environmental services.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities; able to supervise when needed.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains patient areas, disposes of waste, replenishes supplies, and cleans rooms and linens.
• Provides excellent service in interactions with customers, including coworkers, patients, visitors, physicians, and volunteers.
• Acts as a shift lead in supporting supervisor with daily operational responsibilities.
• Assists with training needs of staff.
• Thinks and acts as the shift lead in the absence of supervisor or manager.
• Completes required inspections in a timely manner.
• Follows procedures for handling, mixing, using, labeling, and disposal of all chemicals.
• Supports quality improvement and safety of services provided.
• Drives discharge/transfer cleaning to support admissions and transfers by prioritizing resources.
• Assists with staff development and provides feedback on performance and workflow.

Job Description

Assists in maintaining a high quality level of housekeeping by effectively managing through proper scheduling, training, motivation, and follow-up. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, meets regulatory requirements, and maintains accurate records across the system. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Job Responsibilities

• Cleans, dusts, empties waste baskets, removes trash, replenishes room supplies, wipes/polishes furniture and porcelain fixture, cleans floors, cares for beds and linens, and performs checkout cleaning.
• Provides excellent service in interactions with all customers, including coworkers, patients, visitors, physicians, and volunteers.
• Acts as a shift lead in supporting supervisor with operational responsibilities on a daily basis.
• Assists with training needs of staff.
• Thinks, acts, and behaves as the shift lead in the absence of supervisor or manager.
• Assists with completion of required number of inspections in a timely manner.
• Complies with procedures for handling, mixing, using, labeling, and disposal of all chemicals used in performing job functions.
• Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvement of quality of services provided.
• Drives and facilitates timely discharge and transfer cleaning to support admission, discharge, and transfer process through prioritization of resources.
• Removes barriers or escalates to appropriate leader.
• Assist Supervisor and/or Manager with development of staff by being available to teammates, acting as a resource to help complete complicated/complex tasks, providing on the job training to team, and seeking out opportunities to become actively involved in staff workflow and development.
• Provide Supervisor and/or Manager feedback on staff performance, educational needs, and workflow status.
