Job summary

Sharp HealthCare in Oceanside, CA is seeking a diligent housekeeping/janitorial professional to maintain patient care areas, administrative offices and public spaces at a high standard of cleanliness and infection control.

Shift 3 PM–11:30 PM; hourly pay range $25.00–$26.81 under SEIU CBA. Duties include safe handling of cleaning solutions, routine cleaning per department guidelines, and delivering courteous service while complying with hospital requirements and safety rules.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and understand written instructions and labels and to communicate with supervisors, health care staff and environmental service employees
• Knowledge of handling cleaning solutions and chemicals and proper sanitation standards

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean working environment according to hospital standards and infection control requirements
• Clean and maintain assigned areas
• Maintain safety with wet floor signs and proper PPE use
• Understand role in the event of a disaster
• Discharge/occupied room cleaning according to training checklist
• Provide professional, courteous customer service at all times
• Maintain current status with hospital requirements (TB test, fit testing, NetLearning)

Education

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent

Previous housekeeping / janitorial experience, strongly preferred

Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $25.000 - $25.000 - $26.810

This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU.

This position was originally posted to ratified SEIU members from 09/23/26 – 10/1/26. The position is now available to be filled by internal candidates that are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit or External candidates to Sharp.

What You Will Do

This job performs a variety of housekeeping and janitorial duties to maintain order and sanitary conditions in patient care, administrative offices, and public areas.

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
• Previous housekeeping / janitorial experience, strongly preferred.

• Maintain a safe environment at all time. This includes the proper use of wet floor signs.
• Use appropriate protective equipment while performing duties. This includes proper hand washing and hand sanitizing at all times.
• Understand the role and responsibility of the position in the event of a disaster.
• Clean discharge/occupied rooms according to the departmental training checklist.
• Maintain professional and courteous customer service at all times.
• Maintain current status with all hospital requirements (Annual TB Skin Test, Fit Testing, Net Learning, other requirements).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be able to work with cleaning solutions and chemicals and have knowledge of proper handling of these cleaning solutions. Must demonstrate ability to complete on-the-job training, including the proper operational procedures for the cleaning equipment and tools, and must demonstrate knowledge of health and sanitation standards
