Job summary

Panthalassa, a renewable energy and ocean technology company, seeks an EVP, Communications to build a function from scratch as the company moves into the public stage. You will distill long-term goals, shepherd strategies, and drive execution with cross-functional partners.

You'll shape brand, media relations, executive comms, and social content while leading a distributed team to tell compelling stories about ocean energy, environmental responsibility, and the company's mission.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant experience in media relations, journalism, public relations, or strategic communications, including senior leadership roles.
• Experience managing press, both reactively and proactively.
• Ability to perform most aspects of the role as an individual contributor.
• Evidence of calm, credible leadership of high-powered teams.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex ideas clear and compelling.
• Strong relationships with relevant media and journalists.
• Experience managing agencies and building in-house teams.
• Strong judgment, presence, and ability to operate effectively in moments of ambiguity or rapid change.
• Ability to thrive in a creative, scrappy, and collaborative environment in which the best ideas change the company’s direction on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Brand & Narrative: Create and shepherd a clear brand and messaging strategy tied to mission, values, and roadmap.
• Media & PR: Build relationships with media, pitch stories, manage hundreds of media relationships with trust.
• Executive Communications: Partner with the leadership team on messaging and funding narratives.
• Social Media Strategy & Content: Build a team to own social content aligned with goals and growth targets.
• Community Engagement: Identify feedback themes and host events; engage internal voices when needed.
