Job summary

Espanola Public Schools Espanola Valley High School in Española, New Mexico seeks a Principal to lead instructional program and student safety, report to Superintendent, supervise site staff, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

The Principal will oversee EPSS, implement Common Core, supervise curriculum and assessment, and collaborate with parents and community to improve student achievement.

Qualifications

• Elementary and/or Secondary Licensure (teaching certificates)
• Administrative Licensure by the Public Education Department
• Knowledgeable about or experience involving School Administration
• Demonstrate Leadership Qualities

Responsibilities

• Interpret and carry out board policies, education standards and State Board regulations in compliance with the Public Education Department and North Central Accreditation and develop a school improvement plan for their assigned school.
• Implement Common Core State Standards, perform curriculum audits and oversee all student assessments.
• Gather, interpret, disaggregate, and analyze assessment data. Identify interventions/strategies for school and student improvement.
• Develop, implement, maintain and update school’s EPSS.
• Provide and be responsible and accountable for school level instructional leadership in all subject areas, inclusive of bilingual and special education and Career Technical education; facilitate curriculum development, implementation, instructional improvement, professional monitoring, curriculum alignment, Common Core State Standards/standards based education, and evaluation of programs.
• Be visible and make informal and formal observations using Teachscape tools; observe teaching techniques, student’s time on task, classroom management, student learning outcomes, and student daily attendance; review grade sheets and report cards on a nine-week basis.
