A Pipefitter Helper will assist the Journeyman Pipefitter to fabricate pipe and assist in the installation of above/underground piping, hangers, supports, valves, and heavy wall specialties.

• Level IV: Competent to complete Journeyman level Pipe Fitter tasks with minimal supervision.

Overview of Primary Duties:

• Assists Journeyman by performing the simpler and more routine duties of the craft.
• Follow detailed instructions on new work assignments.
• Closely reviews work while tasks are being learned.
• Assist with laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing and maintaining piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and production and processing systems.
• Demonstrate Yates Core Values and Principles.

• Safety Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work by the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices.
  • Report all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management.
  • Required to wear and maintain personal PPE.
  • Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations.
  • Participate in workplace inspections.
  • Comply with statutory requirements, including duty of care.
  • Participate in required and assigned training.
  • Provide suggestions to improve Safety.
  • Present a mature approach to working safely.
  • Attend prestart and Safety meetings and contribute.
• Other related duties as needed and assigned by Field Supervision.

Qualifications:

• Level IV: Thirty-six (36) + months of heavy industrial-related pipefitting experience.
• Level III: Twenty-four (24) to thirty-five (35) months of heavy industrial-related pipefitting experience.
• Level II: Twelve (12) to twenty-three (23) months of heavy industrial-related pipefitting experience.
• Level I: Zero (0) to eleven (11) months of heavy industrial-related pipefitting experience and one (1) year of industrial experience.

Requirements:

• Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation.
• Personal hand tools required for craft as established on the Yates Industrial Minimum Tool List.
• Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights.

• Ability to talk and hear to communicate.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
• Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
• Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
