Job description

This position is responsible for supervising the events operations of the Convention and Trade Center facility to include space configurations and custodial services.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervises operational functions of the facility relating to, but not limited to room setup.
  • Supervises the custodial functions of the Convention & Trade Center Facilities relating to fixtures, furniture, carpet and flooring.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, assigns, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines 15 employees.
  • Conducts regular department staff meetings, trainings, and creates weekly schedules.
  • Manages inventory for capital equipment and expendable supplies.
  • Researches and develops relationships with vendors to ensure best prices for supplies and equipment.
  • Assesses the need for temporary labor and requests additional personnel as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of best practices in supervising.
  • Knowledge of custodial maintenance processes and procedures for large facilities.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in use, setup, and repair of audio-visual equipment.
  • Knowledge of event and hospitality management to include recent trends and advancements.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and office-related computer software and programs.
  • Skill in time management.
  • Skill in management and supervision.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Some college preferred. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with two to three years experience or service. Experience in the event industry. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, walking, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.

  • Lifting – raising objects from lower to higher position, moving objects side to side, using upper extremities, back.
  • Manual Dexterity – picking, pinching, typing, working with fingers rather than hand.
  • Mental Acuity – ability to make rational decisions through sound logic, deductive reasoning.
  • Pulling – use upper extremities to exert force, haul or tug.
  • Pushing – use upper extremities to press against objects with force, or thrust forward, downward, outward.
  • Reaching – extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Repetitive Motion – substantial movements of wrists, hands, fingers.
  • Speaking – expressing ideas with spoken word, convey detailed, important instructions accurately, concisely.
  • Standing – for sustained periods of time.
  • Stooping – bending body downward, forward at waist, with full motion of lower extremities and back.

The work is typically performed in an office, stockroom, or warehouse. The employee is exposed to machinery with moving parts and irritating chemicals. Work may be performed outdoors where the employee may be exposed to cold or inclement weather.
