Step Up seeks an AmeriCorps VISTA member in Los Angeles to support outreach, capacity building, and national visibility for its mentoring and career readiness programs. This full-time role focuses on expanding Step Up’s reach to low-income girls and young women through events, partnerships, and scalable fundraising systems.
You will document the user experience journey for mentors and donors, develop engagement templates, and implement ROI tracking for events to maximize impact and loyalty.
Step Up's VISTA project is organized around three strategic pillars: Resource Innovation, Scalable Reach, and Brand Prominence. Each pillar addresses a specific organizational barrier limiting Step Up's ability to reach low-income girls and young women at scale: insufficient fundraising infrastructure, insufficient community infrastructure to enter new markets, and insufficient visibility to ensure young people in those markets know Step Up exists. The project will seek to build the organizational capacity, community infrastructure, and fundraising systems needed to expand Step Up's programming into new markets, develop a partnership model for young women and teen girls, schools and districts and elevate Step Up's national visibility to ensure young people in low-income communities across the country can access the mentorship and career readiness resources they need to move out of poverty and into economic self-sufficiency.
Document the user experience journey for mentors and donors (and potential mentors and donors) who first encounter Step Up through an event; Develop recommendations that will help new users learn about the organization and its opportunities for involvement and remain engaged beyond the initial event experience; Create a toolkit of engagement templates/resources to be used throughout the user experience journey including event invitations, confirmations, thank yous, next steps, and organization onboarding communications; Develop a system for tracking the engagement ROI of various types of Step Up events, supporting the organization in honing in on the types of events that prove most successful in building mentor and donor engagement and loyalty
