Job summary

Louisville Metro Government is seeking a Marketing and Events Coordinator to schedule and organize marketing, corporate sponsorship and advertising functions. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

The role involves coordinating permits, composing communications, and guiding event logistics while building partnerships with sponsors and community groups. It requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of related experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Communications, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
  • One (1) year of retail sales, customer service, marketing, fundraising, public relations or development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates special events.
  • Issues permits for special events.
  • Composes correspondence, and maintains records and files.
  • Conducts tours of facilities, and explains and discusses rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Communicates reservation needs, set-up arrangements and dates with maintenance, custodial and support services staff to assure compliance with contracts, scheduling and other logistical needs.
  • Researches and solicits the support and participation of individuals, corporations, foundations, and community agencies to promote, develop and implement projects, events and programs.
  • Presents promotional presentations and educational programs to groups and organizations.
  • Attends public meetings to disseminate information and solicit contributions and donations.
  • Prepares bid specifications, cost estimates, contracts, and license agreements for events and sponsors.
  • Solicits sponsorships, corporate memberships and funding for events.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Coordinates permit operations for special events and consults with clients and patrons to determine services or special event needed
  • Monitors events to assure all permits are in place, enters data and maintains client databases.
  • Provides technical assistance and instruction regarding event scheduling, customer service, problem solving, policies and procedures and quality assurance.

Summary Objective

Essential Functions

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Communications, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
  • One (1) year of retail sales, customer service, marketing, fundraising, public relations or development experience.
EQUIVALENCY

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

  • Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
