Description

Position Summary: The Events Bartender will prepare, pour, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for banquets/events. Requires knowledge of all aspects of mixology including food/wine pairings and wine presentation and service.

Core Four Competencies:

  • Stocks bar and completes other pre-opening requirements.
  • Prepares and serves alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes.
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of the department and daily club operations, including events and operating hours.
  • Ensures that all state and local laws, club policies, and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspects the bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available.
  • Requests additional supplies as necessary and stocks the bar.
  • Able to setup, execute, and tear down a “satellite bar.”
  • Prepares garnishes, fruit mixes, and pre-mixed drinks prior to opening the bar.
  • Greets members and guests with a “ready to serve” attitude.
  • Mixes, prepares, and serves drinks to members and guests and mixes and prepares drinks ordered by food and beverage servers according to approved standard recipes.
  • Collect checks and payments for drinks served.
  • Reports complaints to a manager as they occur.
  • Maintains and cleans bar area and equipment.
  • Maintains records of liquors, beers, and wine to ensure bar stock is maintained at all times.
  • Cleans and locks the bar area according to prescribed closing procedures.
  • Ensures that all food items are correctly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated to prevent any health or safety hazards from occurring, and takes precautions against possible spoilage.
  • Attends staff meetings including pre-shift (line-up) sessions and training as required.
  • Carefully follows all laws and club policies and procedures regarding alcoholic beverage service and informs the manager if continued service to a member or guest is in question.
  • Serves drinks to members and guests seated at lounge tables in the absence of a beverage server.
  • Continually practices beverage and revenue control procedures.
  • Thanks members and guests; invites them to return.
  • Completes other appropriate work assignments as requested by supervisor.
  • Performs other appropriate tasks as assigned by the Director/Assistant Director of Food and Beverage or other members of the Food and Beverages leadership team.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to show skill at slowing and refusing alcoholic beverage service when necessary.
  • Must have the ability to comply with basic safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of the Club’s POS system or comparable POS system.
  • Must have knowledge of all aspects of department and daily club operations, including events and operating hours.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEO).
  • Must have the ability to work large or small events with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Must have the ability to balance multiple projects and have strong project and time management skills. Must possess high attention to detail.
  • Must display an aptitude for working in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to work autonomously, take direction, and exercise good judgment. Must have the ability to reason and apply common-sense understanding to situations encountered.
  • Must have authority to reason and apply common sense understanding to situations encountered.
  • Must have a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills in order to communicate and work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Must use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluent English; compose documents in the appropriate style using correct grammar and spelling; communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone.
  • Ability to simultaneously process routine daily functions, resolve sensitive issues, and complete complex assignments utilizing above-average critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • The physical demands of this position are representative of those that might be met by an employee for them to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. These include being both mobile and stationary throughout the workday and having the ability to transport fifty (50) pounds in potentially hot, cold, humid, and noisy environments in both indoor and outdoor locations.

Qualifications / Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required.
  • Alcohol beverage and food safety certification required.
  • Of legal age (twenty-one [21]) to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages required.
  • One (1) plus year(s) or more experience in bartending preferred in a fast-paced, high-volume, events environment required.
