Job Description

The Reading Public Schools is seeking applicants for Event Technicians.

Salary: $18.50 per hour

Overview: Event Technicians will be responsible for the proper set‑up, execution and break‑down of theatrical lighting, audio, A/V and communication systems for the Reading Public School’s rental program.

Desired Experience:

  • Comfortable working with rental groups including: dance studios, karate studios, public meetings, guest speakers, choral groups, band organizations, town/school committees, house of worship, and theatre companies.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, creating, recording and editing theatrical lighting cues within an ETC Element Lighting Console or similar console.
  • Experience with manual fader (A/B) lighting consoles.
  • Comfortable with hanging, focusing and circuiting single lighting fixtures for use with gobos or as lighting specials for events.
  • Experience using Behringer, Soundcraft or similar sound consoles.
  • Ability to work with and troubleshoot sound systems including patching and mixing.
  • Experience with wireless microphones, wired microphones, floor microphones and lavalier microphones.
  • Set‑up and operation of Telex/Clear-Com wired and wireless communication systems.
  • Ability to set‑up, troubleshoot and operate simple A/V components.
  • Experience in Stage Management or similar role multi‑tasking with lighting/sound cues.
  • Basic knowledge of theatrical spaces including curtain operation.

Varied hours & schedule; will require night and weekend hours.

One year of experience preferred.

Physical:

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Job may require standing, sitting, climbing ladders and working with heights.

Position Type: Full‑Time

Salary: $18.50 to $18.50 Per Hour
