Job summary

City of Kentwood is seeking an Event Support Assistant to help bring Kentwood events to life. You will assist with setup, teardown, and on-site event support, working in a collaborative team to ensure smooth operations and safety. A high school diploma or GED and one year of related experience are preferred.

You will enjoy a 18.00–20.00 USD per hour rate, with strong teamwork and a service-oriented mindset. The role is part-time and onsite with access to community amenities and discounts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup and teardown of event equipment, including tables, chairs, tents, stages, barricades, and signage.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize event supplies and materials.
  • Arrange event layouts based on diagrams or supervisor instructions.
  • Assemble and disassemble basic event equipment, ensuring safety and stability.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of event spaces before, during, and after events.
  • Provide on-site support during events, including adjusting setups and assisting staff as needed.
  • Follow safety procedures and use proper lifting techniques and protective equipment.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or supply needs to supervisors.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners.
  • Deliver friendly, professional service when interacting with the public and event participants.
