Job summary

City of Kentwood is seeking Event Bartenders to support our Parks & Recreation Department and deliver beverage service at community events and facility rentals.

This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. You will create a welcoming atmosphere, ensure responsible alcohol service, set up and break down bars, manage basic sales, and coordinate with staff for smooth operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year bartending/service experience preferred.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid cert or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • MLCC alcohol server training (TIPS/ServSafe or equivalent) within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages per standards.
  • Verify guest age and comply with alcohol service laws.
  • Provide friendly, professional service and manage bar setup/breakdown.
  • Stock supplies and prepare garnishes; maintain cleanliness of bars.
  • Record basic sales and inventory; monitor guest behavior for safety.
  • Communicate with event staff, supervisors, and security; follow health guidelines.

About the Role

Join our Team! The City of Kentwood is seeking Event Bartenders to support our Parks & Recreation Department and help deliver high-quality beverage service at a variety of community events and facility rentals.

In this role, you’ll create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for guests while ensuring responsible alcohol service and smooth event operations. This is a part-time position, with a flexible schedule that varies based on events, including evenings and weekends.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with established standards
  • Verify guest age and ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws and regulations
  • Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service
  • Set up and break down bar areas, including stocking supplies and preparing garnishes
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar areas, equipment, and supplies
  • Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to ensure a safe environment
  • Accurately handle transactions and maintain basic sales and inventory records
  • Communicate effectively with event staff, supervisors, and security
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and health guidelines
  • Assist with inventory, restocking, and reporting supply needs

About You

You’re outgoing, dependable, and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You take pride in providing excellent service, work well as part of a team, and can stay calm and professional while managing busy events.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least one year of bartending, food service, or customer service experience (or equivalent combination of experience and training)
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • MLCC-approved alcohol server training (TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol, or equivalent) within 90 days of hire
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move supplies as needed
