Summary of Responsibilities:
Engaging service, delicious cuisine, and distinctive surroundings make every special event at Fairmont Waterfront a truly memorable affair. Your attention to detail and excellent communication skills as Event Supervisor will empower your team to deliver exceptional service to guests of our group functions.
- Maintains, enforces, and enhances the Fairmont’s Service Promises and standards as identified by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Food & Beverage Standards Manual with respect to product and delivery, acting as a role model for exceptional performance.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism in all aspects of job performance, assuming at all times a positive, helpful, and supportive attitude towards every guest and colleague.
- Supervises floor activity, and leads by example.
- Maintains strong communication lines with the Event Managers and other Departments within the Hotel.
- Fully adopts and promotes all Company Health & Safety and Sustainability policies and procedures to ensure a safe and responsible work environment.
- Ensures targets are met and exceeded towards Meeting Planner Voice of Guest Survey Satisfaction, departmental productivity goals, and Colleague Engagement opportunities.
- Conducts on and off floor Performance Management including colleague performance reviews.
- Oversees and assists with Event Food & Beverage functions, giving direction and training to service staff.
- Creates a liaison between Kitchen leaders/colleagues, Event colleagues, and Convenors of a given function.
- Monitors Event Porters and Servers to ensure all work is completed as required and specified on the function contracts.
- Assists the Event Managers as required in office work (billing, liquor consumption, scheduling, staff assignment, conducting performance reviews, etc.) and other duties delegated by the Event Managers.
- Ensures all Event equipment is maintained in perfect working condition.
- Performs Server/Porter/Bartending/Cashiering duties as required.
- Will be required to open or close the Banquet floor as business levels dictate.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary Degree in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management (asset).
- Minimum two years of Event Leadership or Serving experience in a Luxury Event/Conference operation comparable to Fairmont Waterfront.
- Strong leadership qualities and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to delegate tasks and facilitate completion, encouraging colleagues with positive motivation.
- Completion of Level 1 or 2 First Aid course (asset).
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain composure in a dynamic environment.
- Effective at handling concerns, anticipating, preventing, identifying, and problem-solving when necessary.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sales & Catering Opera.
- Able to lift/move heavy objects.
- Flexible working hours and availability for various shifts full-time.
