Job summary

Metro, the organization behind the Oregon Convention Center and Portland Expo Center, is seeking an Event Setup and Custodial Worker. In this hands-on role, you will help keep venues clean, organized, and event-ready while supporting conventions, trade shows, and community events.

This role offers hands-on experience in operations, access to Metro's training and internal career advancement opportunities, and the chance to contribute to a welcoming guest experience across major regional venues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 2–3 years in similar facility roles.
• Ability to operate or obtain forklift and CPR certification.
• Physical ability to lift 50–80 pounds and work varied shifts.

Responsibilities

• Set up and breakdown of tables, chairs, and staging per schematic instructions.
• Hang banners using high-lift equipment when needed.
• Prepare rooms between events and reset for upcoming uses.
• Assist guests with event information and directions.
• Monitor spaces for cleanliness and restock supplies.
• Sweep, mop, wax, vacuum, dust, and trash disposal.
• Maintain clean restrooms and stock supplies.
• Keep breakrooms and loading docks organized and clean.
• Maintain professional appearance and uniform.
• Perform related duties to support operations and guest satisfaction.
