Herriott's Rents, Tents, & Events is looking for an experienced sales representative to join our team as an Event Rental Consultant. If you are self-driven, outgoing, and detail-oriented, read below! A Driver's License and good driving record are required.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:
This position is ultimately responsible for:
- Guiding clients through the rental process in full
- Ensuring customer satisfaction
- Upselling products and services
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guide and educate clients through the rental process, from initial inquiry to final follow-ups.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and understanding of the rental policies and processes.
- Ensure proper customer care and ease of rental.
- Maintain knowledge of up-to-date industry trends.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Deliver excellent service to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Correct customer complaints and concerns into a positive experience.
- Solidify rapport with current customers to ensure repeat business or referrals.
- Answer phones pleasantly and cheerfully.
- Ensure customers are greeted in a warm and welcoming manner.
- Answer and organize emails for efficiency and clarity.
- Respond to customers online.
- Take messages and pass them to the appropriate person and ensure receipt.
- Gather, assemble, and process quote and order information.
- Match rental items and services to customer requests.
- Retrieve customer and order information quickly.
- Understand and communicate processes and policies effectively to customers.
- Ensure cleanliness and photo-quality organization of the front desk/showroom.
- Review credit card and online payments to ensure collection within 15 days of delivery.
- Assist with the Customer Pickup Door over lunch breaks or periods of busyness.
- Recommend and make packages for frequently rented items.
- Suggest new products to meet customer needs.
- Suggest new business strategies to attract new customers, expand store traffic, and enhance sales.
- Maintain a steady book of business via organized and consistent client interaction.

- Know what is always happening on the floor and be willing and able to assist and intervene for relationship improvement and troubleshooting challenges.
- Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition.
- Update product information and standard operating procedure documents for continued accuracy.
- Collaborate with Operations team to ensure complete and successful installations.
METRICS:
- 5-star reviews/referrals.
- Respond to emails and online requests within 1 hour, answer phones within 2 rings.
- Take ownership of challenges and questions before escalating using the 1:3:1 method.
- Acknowledge 75% of events booked.
- Meet or exceed sales projections.
- Reduce number of errors and omissions of rental agreements.
- Suggest 2 packages per month.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Word processing and/or business software experience.
- Skilled in the use of operating basic office equipment.
- Customer service skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Spatial awareness to create detailed floorplans and layouts.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Call Center Experience.
- Events-based Experience.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
EDUCATION PREFERRED:
- Some college.
- Degree in marketing, sales, or similar preferred.
- Certification in event rentals, or a similar field.
