Job description

Kickstarter is the leading crowdfunding platform for creative projects across film, games, music, art, design, and technology. Since our founding in 2009, our mission to help bring creative projects to life has been powered by the people behind the work.

Together, we’ve helped creators around the world launch creative projects that have generated billions of dollars in pledges. That same commitment extends inward. Rooted in shared values, Kickstarter invests in the growth and success of our team, treating employees as whole people and empowering them with the autonomy and space to participate in decisions that shape their work and our company.

Kickstarter is seeking an Event Marketer to join our Marketing team, reporting to the Director, Brand and Communications. The right person can transform ambitious ideas into memorable, well-executed experiences for creators, backers, partners, and cultural communities.

This role combines creative thinking with exceptional experiential operational discipline. The Event Marketer will help shape the experience, identify what will make it distinctive, and manage the many details required to bring it to life—on time, within budget, and at a consistently high standard.

The right person is highly collaborative, deeply organized, resourceful with budgets, and connected to a strong network of vendors and production partners. They understand that great events are not simply gatherings; they are strategic expressions of the Kickstarter brand and opportunities to deepen relationships, create cultural relevance, and drive measurable outcomes.

The salary for this role in the United States is $120,000.

In this role, you will:
  • Plan and execute Kickstarter’s portfolio of brand, creator, category, industry, and community events.
  • Translate strategic and creative concepts into clear event plans, production timelines, budgets, and onsite experiences.
  • Collaborate with Brand, Communications, Outreach, Growth, Editorial & Content, and other teams to define each event’s audience, purpose, creative direction, and measures of success.
  • Develop event formats and experiences that feel distinctive to Kickstarter and meaningful to the communities we serve.
  • Own end-to-end event operations, including venues, vendors, production, staffing, travel, run-of-show, guest experience, risk planning, and onsite execution.
  • Source, negotiate with, and manage agencies, fabricators, production teams, venues, caterers, and other event partners.
  • Build and maintain a strong, diverse network of trusted vendors and cultural partners across key markets.
  • Manage event budgets with discipline and creativity, finding ways to maximize impact without compromising the quality of the experience.
  • Establish repeatable planning tools, processes, and standards that enable the team to execute efficiently across multiple events.
  • Anticipate challenges, make thoughtful decisions under pressure, and keep collaborators aligned throughout the planning process.
  • Partner with Communications and across Marketing to extend the impact of events through content, media, social amplification, and post-event engagement.
  • Evaluate event performance and apply insights to improve future programming and investment decisions.
About You
  • Experience producing brand, cultural, community, industry, or experiential events from concept through completion.
  • A strong creative instinct and the practical ability to turn an idea into a compelling physical or virtual experience.
  • Exceptional project management, organizational, and budget-management skills.
  • Established relationships with high-quality vendors, venues, production partners, and event specialists.
  • Confidence managing multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and deadlines without losing sight of the guest experience or strategic objective.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a reputation for being resourceful and responsible with budgets.
  • A calm, solutions-oriented approach to the inevitable changes and challenges of live and virtual events.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • An understanding of how events can support brand building, community development, relationship management, and business growth.
  • Enthusiasm for Kickstarter’s mission and the creative communities we serve.
What You'll Enjoy
  • A fully remote workforce with plenty of opportunities to get to know your colleagues
  • 100% employer-paid health plan offerings
  • 16 paid vacation days, 10 sick days, paid holidays, and a company-wide winter break between Christmas and New Years
  • 25 volunteer hours each year to give back to your community
  • 18 weeks of parental leave for the primary caregiver; 16 weeks of parental leave for the secondary caregiver, plus fertility/family planning resources
  • 401k with 3% safe harbor contribution
  • Annual stipends including a Remote Working & Wellness Stipend of $3,000 USD (prorated) each calendar year for expenses related to remote working, wellness, health, and fitness and a $500 Role Development Stipend
  • Kickstarter currently operates with a 4-day workweek, a model that aligns with our belief in a healthy work-life balance and gives staff the space to be more than their work
