The Atlantic is seeking an experienced Event Manager to lead planning and execution across its flagship and roundtable programs, in New York City or Washington, D.C., with remote options. The role requires managing timelines, budgets, vendors, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact experiences.

You will collaborate with editorial, design, marketing, audience and sales, translate sponsor goals into integrated experiences, oversee virtual and hybrid production, and produce run-of-show

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience producing events or comparable live experiences.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple complex workstreams.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with both in-person and virtual event production.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and strong sense of ownership.
  • Interest in journalism, media, or mission-driven work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of events across The Atlantic's events portfolio.
  • Own end-to-end project management, including timelines, logistics, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Partner with editorial, design, marketing, audience, and sales teams to bring events from concept to execution.
  • Manage vendors and production partners across venues, AV, catering, and technical production.
  • Support tentpole, multi-day, multi-sponsor events, including on-site execution and client management.
  • Translate sponsor goals into integrated event experiences while upholding The Atlantic's editorial standards.
  • Lead client communications, planning timelines, program updates, and delivery of contracted elements.
  • Oversee virtual and hybrid production in partnership with production vendors.
  • Develop run-of-show documents, staffing plans, and on-site execution strategies.
  • Partner with audience teams to meet and exceed attendance goals.
  • Support budget tracking and forecasting, identifying risks and opportunities.

We’re looking for an Event Manager to help deliver this work at a high level.
