Position Summary

Events by RHC is looking to hire a Event Kitchen Assistant. The Event Kitchen Assistant is responsible for preparing and finishing all hot and cold foods in accordance with event recipes & standards.

Types of events that can be expected:
  • Cocktail receptions, Seated dinners
  • Breakfast & Lunch Buffets
  • Private dining in our clients’ homes
  • Weddings and other large events

This role pays an hourly rate of $30 to $35.

About the Venue

EVENTS BY RHC is a boutique off-premise caterer based in New York City. Inspired by international cuisine, modern dining, and exceptional service, we proudly bring a modern take to event dining.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a clean, organized, and efficient manner in a high-pressure environment
  • Have experience on multiple stations in the kitchen
  • Ensure food portions and presentation meet Events standards
  • Have excellent knife skills and proficiency in all aspects of cooking
  • Assist the Culinary Management team with food preparation as assigned
  • Maintain a working knowledge of food preparation for standard menu items
  • Keep the work environment, including floors and passages, clean
  • Clean kitchen and equipment as assigned by Culinary Management
  • Help keep all food storage areas, refrigerators, freezers, etc., clean and organized
  • Assist in unloading deliveries
Qualifications
  • Professional work ethic
  • 2-3 years of related off-premise catering/cook experience
  • Ability to prepare and execute key components of dishes ensuring quality and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow directions
  • Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings, when required
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, resourcefully, and proactively solve issues
  • Support team members by being a team player
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods; lift and carry 30+ pounds, push/pull up to 75+ pounds
  • Culinary degree is preferred but not required
