Overview

Events by RHC is looking to hire a Event Kitchen Assistant. The Event Kitchen Assistant is responsible for preparing and finishing all hot and cold foods in accordance with event recipes & standards.

Types of events that can be expected:

  • Cocktail receptions, Seated dinners
  • Breakfast & Lunch Buffets
  • Private dining in our clients’ homes.
  • Weddings and other large events

This role pays an hourly rate of $30 to $35.

For PT roles: Benefits: 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching.

EVERGREEN ROLE: Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis; there is no application deadline.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to work in a clean, organized, and efficient manner in a high-pressure environment
  • Have experience on multiple stations in the kitchen
  • Ensuring that food portions and food presentation meet Events standards
  • Must have excellent knife skills and proficiency in all aspects of cooking
  • Assists the Culinary Management team with food preparation as assigned
  • Maintains a working knowledge of food preparation for standard menu items
  • Maintains a clean work environment, including floors and passages
  • Cleans kitchen and equipment as assigned by the Culinary Management team
  • Assists in keeping all food storage areas, refrigerators, freezers, etc. clean and organized
  • Assisting in the unloading of deliveries
Qualifications
  • Professional work ethic
  • 2-3 years of related off-premise catering/cook experience
  • Prepare and execute key components of dishes while ensuring quality and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills and ability to take direction from supervisors
  • Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings, when required
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, resourcefully, and proactively solve issues
  • Support their fellow cooks by being a team player
  • Ability to meet physical demands including extended periods of standing and walking throughout the day; able to lift and carry 30+ pounds, push/pull up to 75+ pounds
  • Culinary degree is preferred but not required
