Job summary

The Hampton Roads Convention Center is seeking a dependable Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests, clients, and team members. This part-time role focuses on janitorial duties to keep the facility event-ready.

Essential tasks include routine cleaning, surface maintenance, and setup/breakdown support for events, with strong emphasis on safety and detail. Prior janitorial experience is preferred, and applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: minimum six months in janitorial/housekeeping, preferably in a convention center or similar facility.
• Ability to work independently with good judgment and initiative.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with coworkers, vendors, and guests.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and deep cleaning of the facility including floors, restrooms, windows, and surfaces.
• Maintain cleanliness of offices, service hallways, storage areas, and non-public spaces.
• Maintain exterior areas including sidewalks and entrances.
• Assist with setup/breakdown of tables, chairs, and event equipment.
• Operate light power-driven cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Report maintenance and repair needs to the appropriate department.
