Position Summary

The Server, Field Level - Event Day will deliver exceptional hospitality to guests in a fast-paced, high-volume environment during all MLS Home matches at Subaru Park. This is an event-based position, requiring flexibility and a focus on providing top-notch food and beverage service. The role involves ensuring that all guest needs are met efficiently and professionally throughout the event, while maintaining a clean and organized service area. There are typically 18-25 events per year, including all MLS Home matches and other events, making this a dynamic and engaging opportunity.

This role pays an hourly rate of $14, plus tips.

About the Venue

Subaru Park, located in Chester, PA, is the proud home of the Philadelphia Union, the city's Major League Soccer (MLS) team. As a premier sports and entertainment venue, Subaru Park hosts the Philadelphia Union home games and various other events throughout the year. The 2025 MLS Home Opener will take place on March 1st, and the season runs through October/November of this year.

Working at Subaru Park provides a unique opportunity to be part of the action and support the Philadelphia Union, all while delivering exceptional service to fans in the vibrant, energetic atmosphere of the stadium.

Responsibilities

  1. Gathering Required Items: The server is responsible for collecting all necessary items and supplies needed for their shift, including but not limited to menus, service carts, beverages, utensils, napkins, drinkware, and other event-specific materials.
  2. Event Space Setup: Prior to guest arrival, servers assist in setting up the event space, which includes arranging tables, chairs, linens, and place settings, ensuring all areas are clean, organized, and ready for service.
  3. Customer Service & Interaction:
    • Maintain friendly and professional contact with guests, anticipating and meeting their needs.
    • Handle social interactions with guests, ensuring their experience is enjoyable.
    • Respond to complaints or inquiries from customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  4. Operational Tasks:
    • Maintain inventory of both food and beverage stations.
    • Keep event areas and front-of-house staging areas tidy and organized.
  5. Safety & Cleanliness:
    • Maintain strict sanitation standards, ensuring all service areas, food stations, and equipment are clean and safe for guest use.
    • Follow safety protocols and help maintain a clean and safe work environment.
    • Adhere to all health and safety regulations while handling food and beverages.
  6. Must be punctual and demonstrate consistent attendance.

Qualifications

  1. The ideal candidate will have the ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize work while maintaining a strong attention to detail. Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English are required, along with a solid understanding of basic arithmetic.
  2. Availability: Must be available to work ALL scheduled events, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
  3. Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in catering, events, banquets, or restaurants preferred.
  4. Education: High School diploma or equivalent GED strongly preferred.
  5. Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  6. Certifications: RAMP Certification (Responsible Alcohol Management Program) is required.
  7. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly, positive attitude toward co-workers, managers, volunteers, and guests.

Physical Requirements & Flexibility:

  1. Standing and Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6 hours) during shifts.
  2. Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  3. Endurance and Stamina: This role requires physical endurance and stamina to support event setups, guest interactions, and general operational tasks throughout the venue.
  4. Outdoor Work Environment: Comfortable working in an outdoor setting during all weather conditions.
  5. Flexible Schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
