Job summary

PENN Entertainment is seeking a team member to assist with event setup, beverage service, and order entry using Micros. You will ensure guests are served promptly, anticipate their needs, and maintain high standards of hospitality during events.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED, strong reading and math skills, and be eligible for WV Racing Commission licensing and a Food Handler Certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, communicate clearly with customers and teammates.
• Basic math skills for handling payments and closing out checks.
• Must qualify for licensing with WV Racing Commission and obtain Food Handler Certification.
• Work environment may involve exposure to moist/humid conditions and moderate noise.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up and breaking down events.
• Prepare and serve guests beverages (non-alcoholic and alcoholic as needed).
• Enter all orders into Micros in a timely manner.
• Anticipate guests' needs and deliver outstanding service.
• Follow steps of service and adhere to internal controls and policies.
• Handle payments and accurate cash handling; close out transactions as required.
• Communicate guest comments or concerns to supervisors promptly.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the set up and break down of events.
• Prepares and serves guests nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages as needed.
• Enter all orders into micros in a timely matter.
• Anticipate guests needs.
• Follows steps of service as outlined in training manual.
• Totals bill and accepts payment in accordance with all Food and Beverage internal controls.
• Communicates immediately to the supervisor all guest comments or concerns.
• Must be able to adjust to non-consistent schedule.
• Regular participation in scheduled Event Center events is required.
• Completes any task assigned by supervisor.
• Adhere to HCCTR as well as all Food and Beverage Policies and service standards.
• Must deliver ACES Guest Service to every guest during every transaction.
• Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and Company standards and programs.
• Committed to consistently delivering the highest quality of food & service to local and international guests in order to ensure repeat visits.
• Ensure that sanitation in all food & beverage outlets meets and/or exceeds Health Department and OSHA guidelines.
• Demonstrate and exhibit characteristics and behavior in accordance with Property and Departmental Service Guarantees, and Property Core Values.
• Maintains professional grooming and appearance and acts as a role model according to established grooming and appearance policy.
• Maintains valid WV racing license, Food Handlers permit and TIPS certification.

Requirements

• Applicant must possess a High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission.
• Must be able to obtain proper Food Handler Certification.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
