Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a part-time Housekeeping Worker for evening shifts (3pm–11pm), including weekends and holidays. You will clean and supply assigned patient and non-patient areas using standard procedures, and ensure safe handling of chemicals and equipment.

Responsibilities include preparing cleaning solutions, disinfecting rooms, maintaining equipment, and reporting safety hazards while adhering to OSHA/JCAHO guidelines. This role supports a clean, safe hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in institutional cleaning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment as assigned to perform housekeeping tasks.
• Dusts, cleans furniture, windowsills, light fixtures, vents, blinds and radiators according to departmental procedure.
• Cleans bathrooms, fixtures, pipes, tile walls, metals and partitions; replenishes soap and paper supplies as needed.
• Disinfects rooms and patient furniture with germicidal solution.
• Hangs curtains, moves furniture and supplies as necessary.
• Spot cleans windows, walls and carpets; vacuums carpets and upholstery.
• Follows established procedures and uses equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintains compliance with OSHA/JCAHO standards and proper chemical handling.
• Reports safety hazards and broken equipment promptly.
