Job summary

FedEx Corporation in New Jersey is seeking a Yard Switcher to move trailers from yard to doors and assist with loading, unloading and sorting packages. This role requires basic safety awareness and a valid driver’s license.

Starting pay is $22.15–$23.15 per hour for a PT shift roughly 5pm–10:30pm. Training is provided; FedEx is an Equal Opportunity Employer, with accommodations available during the application process.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners and unloading devices.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers between yard and load/unload doors.
• Communicates with management to coordinate trailer movements in the yard.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• May perform package handler tasks: loads/unloads packages from vehicles, conveyors, and carts.
• Sorts packages by scanning, reading labels and charts, and matching numbers.
