Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Portland is seeking a knowledgeable Welding Adjunct Instructor to teach SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW. You will assess student skill levels, develop individualized learning plans, and ensure safe operation of welding equipment in a shop environment.

The position emphasizes hands-on training, class safety, and adapting to students from hobbyists to career-focused learners, with evening classes 6-9 PM, two nights weekly.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience in welding and fabrication.
• Teaching, mentoring or workforce development preferred.
• Ability to read welding drawings, blueprints and procedures.
• Knowledge of welding processes SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and PPE use.
• AWS certifications or equivalent credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct welding theory, safety procedures, and hands-on techniques.
• Teach SMAW, GMAW, GTAW Pipe/Plate, and FCAW welding processes.
• Evaluate student skills and develop individualized learning plans.
• Provide hands-on demonstrations and supervised practice in shop.
• Promote and enforce proper safety practices and PPE use.
• Maintain classroom and welding lab equipment per safety guidelines.
• Assess progress and provide constructive feedback.
