Job summary

CCBC seeks a Theatre Director Adjunct to direct one of its academic productions, overseeing casting, rehearsal, design, and the run of the show. The role collaborates with Theatre Faculty to select a play or musical for the season and to ensure artistic integrity throughout the process.

Adjunct faculty will run evening and weekend rehearsals, attend department meetings, prepare materials and grades, and coordinate activities with the Program Director or Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Dance, or Performing Arts required.
  • Directing/choreography experience in collegiate settings preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities essential.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Prior college teaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive and communicate an artistic concept for the production.
  • Coordinate artistic aspects with production team to ensure unity.
  • Be responsible to the Discipline Coordinator and Department Chair for artistic quality.
  • Attend all audition times and callbacks.
  • Cast the production with input from the team and faculty.
  • Attend weekly production meetings to coordinate all aspects.
  • Manage design elements, cues, costumes, props, and publicity timelines.
  • Supervise the Stage Manager and clarify responsibilities.
  • Coordinate rehearsal time and space with the Office of Performing Arts.
  • Assist in posting publicity photographs when required.
  • Meet with Musical Director, Conductor and Choreographer beforehand for continuity.
  • Research to ensure historical integrity of the production.
  • Conduct rehearsals professionally to optimize students' time.
  • Maintain professional morale and lead by example.
