Job summary

State of Iowa is seeking a part-time Residential Officer for the 5th District Department of Corrections at a 24-hour community-based facility. The role requires evenings, nights, and weekends and focuses on preparing clients for successful reentry with high-contact interactions.

You will contribute to reducing reoffending risk through programming, observation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team while upholding safety and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Background check and criminal history review required.
• Valid driver’s license required or ability to obtain.
• First Aid and CPR certification required upon hire or during probation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct facility security checks and searches.
• Transport clients within the community.
• Use behavior-change techniques (motivational interviewing, CBT) to support client growth.
• Support case managers and clients in achieving goals.
• Maintain safety and respond to emergencies as needed.
