Job summary

Jamestown Community Center in San Francisco is seeking a part‑time Tutor to provide 2 hours of small group tutoring and an hour of prep per youth each week, aligned with Mission Action’s Stay Over Program at Downtown High School.

Ideal candidates have passion for youth development, strong literacy or math skills, and the ability to engage elementary school students. Evening availability (7–9 pm) and Spanish fluency are preferred. Work‑study options may be available.

Qualifications

• Passion for Jamestown’s mission and youth development.
• Experience with multi-ethnic, multicultural youth.
• Strong literacy and/or math skills.
• Ability to engage with elementary school youth.
• Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends orientation, tutor meetings, and site meetings.
• Delivers two 60-minute tutoring sessions per week per youth and prep for the day.
• Engages youth with math or literacy activities and project-based learning.
• Maintains progress records and communicates with parents or coaches.
• Supports 3–5 youth, upholds safety and academic focus, and participates in program evaluations.
