Job summary

Versailles YMCA in Versailles, OH is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to provide safe, engaging swim instruction and support to members and participants. The role emphasizes welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined YMCA values as you lead sessions and promote aqua-programs.

Responsibilities include enforcing pool rules, setting up equipment, taking attendance, and delivering excellent member service while maintaining timely session starts and open communication with supervisors.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months related swim instruction experience preferred but not required.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• 15 years of age may be considered for a Swim Instructor Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Lead swim instruction sessions in accordance with YMCA standards and guidelines.
• Ensure safety by communicating and enforcing pool rules, policies, and guidelines.
• Train participants in a demonstrative and professional manner.
• Set up and stores needed equipment.
• Begin and end every session on time.
• Take attendance of class each time class is held.
• Provide excellent member service.
• Promote aquatics and other YMCA programs.
• Communicate any concerns or incidents to supervisor.
• Communicate any suggestions to improve the aquatics facility.
• Know and administer the appropriate EAP (emergency action plan) for any situation.
• Complete incident and accident reports as required.
• Know the names of members and use their names when speaking with them.
