Job summary

Johns Hopkins Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician at Bayview Medical Center to inspect, clean, assemble, and sterilize surgical instrument sets, and to operate sterilization equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, certification in CBSPD or equivalent, and at least 3 years of experience; the successful candidate will maintain records, prepare case carts, and respond to customer requests in a fast-paced hospital SPD.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certifications: CBSPD, HSPA, IAHCSMM, CRCST or CBSPD certification.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates instruments and equipment per department procedures.
• Preps instruments: set assembly, wrapping, labeling, and item identification.
• Knows instruments and equipment used in SPD.
• Operates sterilizers and related equipment correctly.
• Prepares case carts and delivers them on time for setup.
• Stores sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment after processing.
• Performs biological testing and logs sterility records.
• Knows load recall procedures in case of a positive test.
• Responds promptly to customer requests.
