Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General’s Sterile Processing Department seeks a Certified Sterile Processing Technician for the evenings shift (2:30pm-11:00pm). You will prepare operating rooms, sterilize instruments, and support surgical teams with validated processes and equipment handling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CRCST or CBSPD certification preferred.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to perform basic computer functions.
• Proficiency with instrumentation tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Follow shift assignments and remain flexible to changes.
• Function independently in decontamination, prep/pack, sterile storage, runner, and case cart areas.
• Collect and clean instruments and equipment after procedures.
• Operate cavi-wave ultrasonic cleaner, washers and sterilizers (Steam, Vpro, EO).
• Inspect equipment for malfunctions and report to management.
• Assemble instruments per standards and use Production Screen/Cart Markers.
• Wrap and sterilize items; document sterilization procedures.
• Support Central Distribution night shift for emergencies.
• Maintain inventory of instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Meet sterile instrumentation needs for Surgery and on-site/off-site users.
• Manage vendor loaned trays cleaning/sterilization.
• Perform sterility checks and routine daily duties.
• Attend mandatory trainings and serve as a preceptor.
