Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear, part of Mass General Brigham, is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to independently perform sterile processing duties in the evening shift. You will decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute instruments, operate washers and sterilizers, maintain device traceability, and support patient care areas while upholding regulatory and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Experience as Central Sterile Technician preferred (1–2 years).
• Knowledge of sterile processing, sterilization methods, and IFU compliance.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable medical devices and instruments.
• Operates washers and sterilizers per department policies.
• Inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality; identify items for repair.
• Assembles instrument trays and equipment according to tray listings.
• Uses instrument tracking systems to document processing and maintain traceability.
• Maintains inventory of sterile supplies and processing consumables.
• Transports instruments to procedural and patient care areas.
• Reports malfunctions or safety risks to appropriate personnel.
• Participates in training and competency validation.
