Job summary

State of Missouri – St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center – North is seeking a positive Food Service Worker to prepare meals and assist in cooking for clients with mental health needs, while ensuring nutrition and safety.

The role includes supervising entry-level staff in food prep and serving, following recipes, and maintaining clean work areas in a hospital-like setting. Evening hours include a $2.00 per hour differential.

Qualifications

• 1 year previous work experience or training in food service or equivalent.
• Introductory knowledge of nutrition, food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to read and follow recipes.
• Ability to supervise and work with others in food preparation.

Responsibilities

• Prepares major meal components (entree, veg, soup, salad, dessert).
• Assists in meal prep: measuring ingredients, mixing, cooking, monitoring temperatures.
• Prepares foods independently.
• Directs and assists entry-level staff in food prep, serving, and cleaning utensils and areas.
• Receives direction from Lead Food Service Workers with instruction and review.
