Job summary

Port of Bellingham is seeking a Security Specialist to contribute to operations by providing a welcoming presence and superior customer service while assuring safety and security of people, property, and facilities. Shifts will be swing or night (3:00 pm–9:00 am) with possible walking or driving several miles each shift.

Location coverage includes areas around Bellingham Bay, Fairhaven, and Blaine Harbor. Required: high school diploma or GED, 3+ years security experience, Hazardous Awareness

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of three (3) years specialized training/experience in security.
• Must complete Hazardous Awareness Training (8 hours) after hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide a welcoming presence and superior customer service to tenants and visitors while ensuring safety and security of people, property, and facilities.
• Perform evening/graveyard security coverage with possible walking/driving of several miles per shift.
• Complete foot patrols, monitor security systems, restrict access, and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Coordinate with Port staff, law enforcement, and other agencies; document incidents clearly and concisely.
